I see dining rooms all the time that have buffets or some sort of console table against the wall.  They give you another place to add design elements like lamps, flowers, and other accessories.  It's adding another layer to the room.   These are all beautiful examples.  source source   source source Why can't I have a buffet table?  There wasn't enough room between the table and the wall to fit one, that's why.  It would be a tight fit for the person at the head of the table to get in and out of his chair.   So one day I was thinking, I can have one too if I make room.  I jumped up and turned the dining room table.  See how much space that opens up along the wall?   I hope to be able to find a piece that will fit right here under my sunburst mirror.  I can already see it. I thought I would share some photos from our family trip to The Magic Kingdom.  My daughter was excited for this trip all summer.  Hubby and I were planning a cruise for just the two of us, but kind of decided that we hadn't taken a family trip since 2010.  My daughter loves Disney and Mickey so Magic Kingdom was the perfect place.  Everyday since we told her we were going, she was asking to see Disney videos on youtube.  She couldn't wait to go. The headboard in our master bedroom is wooden in a dark espresso.  We bought ours a few years ago and I still love it.  I can't help to think how different it would be to have a lighter colored, upholstered one.  I've noticed that in several of my bedroom inspiration photos, there are upholstered headboards. Most of the store bought options I've been seeing are way too much for my budget. I've been looking through so many bedroom inspiration pictures, that I almost get confused on what look I'm going for.  I think I have a transitional design style, mixing the modern with some traditional.  I know I want our bedroom to be calm and soothing but have punches of color.  I love our furniture and it's fairly new so I know we're keeping these pieces.  I may find something I like one week, and change my mind about it the next.  I show them to hubby and he just shakes his head because I am so indecisive.  He told me to just make up my mind and do it already.  Easier said than done.  I found this bedroom personality quiz and decided to give it a try. My results: an escapist and a purist. I find it funny that both of these describe the feel I want.  With the escapist, I want my bedroom to feel like an escape with neutral tones and earth tones.  I think I've decided on tan walls so that will be a great backdrop fo...

Happy Monday morning to you.  Just got back with the family from Magic Kingdom.   It was my daughter's first time to the Magic Kingdom and she was super excited.  Disney World is all she's talked about for the last couple months.  She was watching youtube videos everyday to get herself pumped.  I've got lots of pictures to document to occasion.  She was a little sad to leave.  We're glad she had a great time.  She mentioned a couple times how awesome everything was.  She rode Thunder Mountain like a champ.  I love that girl!    So glad to be back home in my own bed but still wishing I was still on vacation.  Back to work I guess. The year is more than halfway over so I thought I would review some of the projects I've completed so far. In my plans for 2012 post, I told you I wanted to do a major change to the kitchen.  We did this by installing a tile back splash and painting the cabinets with a Rustoleum Cabinet Transformation kit.  The change was a total success.  The changes made our kitchen look like a completely different one.  It was weird for the first few days walking in and seeing the change. The dining room has gotten a few changes as well.  I started by finally getting a rug for under the table at Ikea.  More updates included new curtains on the windows, I removed the painted chandelier and a new chandelier went in, and my DIY sunburst mirror was made.  I would say it's close to completion but I am trying to find a way to put in a buffet table under the mirror.  It might be a tight fit with the table. Looks like we are about to finally paint the master bedroom.  This has been a long time coming.  This is the last room to be painted, except for the spare bedroom.    Here's our bedroom now.  Just like how the other parts of the house started, there are boring builder beige walls. One of the things I love about this house is that is has a ton of windows.  During the day, our house is so bright and full of sunshine.
