Family Friendly Bar Carts

Image
Why are bar carts popping up everywhere?  Maybe I just didn't notice them before.  I remember seeing several in Target but they weren't quite what I wanted to spend for such a small piece.  When they did go on clearance, I missed out because they went so fast.  Bar carts seem like the perfect piece when entertaining and also add a little fun to a room corner. Here are a few I wouldn't mind having.  We're not drinkers at our house but we could still use one for other fun drinks and serve ware. source source source source source source I'm hoping to run across an inexpensive one I can give a fun makeover.  Do you own a bar cart?   You're reading Family Friendly Bar Carts by Andrea, originally posted on Decorating Cents .  If you've enjoyed this post, be sure to follow Andrea on Facebook , Pinterest , Bloglovin , and Hometalk .

Book Ledges

Image
My son has been grabbing more books lately and I know it's because he can see the colorful covers.  He walks right over and picks one off the shelf...while hanging on to the bottom shelf I might add.  I'm just know he's going to rip it off the wall one day.  So glad I went with the Ikea book ledges in his nursery so the covers are facing forward.  I try to keep the books rotated so he's not always reading the same books.  We've also accumulated some that we keep downstairs. The more I look at kid spaces, the more I notice people using these shelves. I love this wall of books . Another set that expands the whole wall . I like this one too where the book are above the chair to create a reading area .  She actually built her own shelves!   I love this one.  The ledges are used in a nursery with a separate sleeping and play area. These ledges are actually named picture ledges by Ikea , but they work so well for book...

Our New Patio

Image
We finally have an outdoor space we can enjoy!  One of the things we looked for during our house search was a great backyard.  At the time we had one child and wanted her to have space to run around in.  What kid doesn't like to be outside?  We had one of those cheap patio sets with the glass table and four chairs from our previous home.  It didn't last long so we never really sat outside because there was nothing to sit on.   Well that time has passed.  We now have a place where we can relax outdoors as well.  I wanted this outside space to be an extension of our inside space.  So I of course used blues and greens with pops of other bright colors.  I picked up this patio furniture from Target and I got busy decorating.   It's so different now to sit outside after dinner instead of watching TV.  With the addition of school being out for the summer, we aren't as rushed to get back inside and prep for the next day...

DIY Flower Pots

Image
A few weeks ago I stopped in Lowe's for some flowers.  We were actually there for my daughter.  She likes the kids' workshops on Saturdays.  When the workshop was over, we headed over to check out the flowers.  I needed some hanging baskets for the front porch.  It was a hot and muggy afternoon.  I intended to only look for a short time but me being me, I took my time debating back and forth on what flowers to get.  The kids were getting cranky and the meltdowns were about to begin.  I quickly made my selections and we checked out. Well, those flowers I was so intent on getting sat on the front porch in their containers for weeks.  I still watered them but they I hadn't gotten around to actually transporting them into a flower pot.  I originally wanted to do a tiered pot arrangement, but it didn't happen.  So yesterday, I finally decided enough was enough. I started out with some empty food cans.  I keep them because I n...

June Month In Review

Well, the year is halfway over.  Here's what went on around these parts. I put together a pink and gold nursery . I shared some summer items from World Market . Another beautiful model home tour.   More Tolix Style bar stools . I finally planted my Fiddle Leaf Fig tree. I took you through the home of Sabrina Soto .   Some beach style living room inspiration. I made a DIY  art caddy for my daughter.   I made my own decorative box from a shoe box. I scored a Target patio set for more than half off. Some coffered ceiling eye candy. Here's to a productive July!   You're reading June Month in Review by Andrea, originally posted on Decorating Cents .  If you've enjoyed this post, be sure to follow Andrea on Facebook , Pinterest , Bloglovin , and Hometalk .
