Fall Wreath

Image
It's officially fall which means I pulled out my fall wreath.  I made a few changes from last year's version .  I removed the pumpkins and gourds and left the leaves and berries. I had a monogram in the stash so I hot glued that on for a little extra something. A simple change but it looks good.  Still loving my red door too.   Sharing with DIY Showoff * Making The World Cuter * I Heart Naptime * Positively Splendid * It's So Very Cheri * It's Overflowing * Tatertots and Jello * Project Queen * A Bowl Full of Lemons * Not Just a Housewife * Home Stories A to Z * Crafty Confessions * Today's Creative Blog * Tip Junkie * My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia * Southern Lovely * Ginger Snap Crafts * Savvy Southern Style * DIY By Design * Clean and Scentsible * DIY Showoff * Hi Sugarplum * House of Hepworths * Bear Rabbit Bear * The 36th Avenue *

Fall Already?

Image
Well the first day of fall is tomorrow according to the calendar.  The weather here is actually cooler in the mornings and evenings and even the daytime temps are coming down.  I'm a little excited to pull out sweaters and boots.  I don't mind being outside this time of year.   This weekend, I was thinking about putting out some fall decor.  I needed some visual inspiration to get my gears going. Love this fall porch . Simple branches can add color to a mantel or table.     How pretty are these pumpkin lanterns ? I'm pulling out my wreath from last year and adding a monogram would be the perfect touch. I could paint some blue pumpkins to match my indoor decor. A piece of subway art would look great on my entry table. I'm not big on the traditional oranges and reds of fall so I like this neutral mantel . I'll be digging through my bins and pulling the wreath out.  Who knows that exciting little fall things the d

A Little Bit Closer

Image
If you follow me on Facebook , then you may already know we finally bought a new sofa for the living room.   It is great to not have such a huge void in that room now.  We waited until Labor day to catch a good sale.  The sofa is pretty big and sits deep.  The color is lighter than the family room sectional and is almost a linen material.  Still pondering on what to do above the sofa.  I've pinned several photos of gallery walls but then again I would love one big statement piece too. I was so anxious to finally order the rug I wanted from Rugs USA but found out the Groupon I bought couldn't be used with the 75% off sale they had over labor day.  I guess I'll have to wait until it will fit in the budget now.  The lamp in the corner will be gone as soon as I find a replacement.  I want a nice side table for the end along with a lamp.  Maybe a pop of color in the lamp?  I want to bring in more reds and blues. For now, I've used the pillows that

Hanging Frames With Double Hooks

Image
When I hung my entryway gallery , the frames had double hooks on the back.  It may seem to be harder to hang pieces like this, but it's actually pretty easy.  I have found this method to work great with frames or art. Turn your frame over. Using a piece of tape, lay it over the hooks. Mark on the tape where the nails will go. Remove the piece of tape and place it on the wall where you want your frame to go.  Use a level to make sure the tape is straight.  Place your nail right above your marks. Hang your pictures. Now you have yourself a level frame.  Simple, huh?  Have you tried this method?  Tell me, is there another way?   Sharing with The 36th Avenue * House of Hepworths * Bear Rabbit Bear * Happy Hour Projects * The Shabby Nest * Chic on a Shoestring Decorating * Five Days Five Ways * A Bowl Full of Lemons * Home Stories A to Z * Homework * My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia * New Nostalgia * Not Just a Housewife * Project Queen * The

Entryway Photo Gallery Wall

Image
We had this expansive wall to the left going up the stairway when you walk into our home.  I had gone back and forth between putting up some art or doing a gallery wall.  Well, I was in my favorite store this weekend, Target if you didn't know, and came across some large frames on clearance.  I put four in the cart and knew exactly where they were going.  Time for another photo gallery. I had some family photos put away that never made it into frames.  I pulled them out and put them in my new frames.  Next was deciding how they were going on the wall.  I traced a frame onto plastic bags, I didn't have any newspaper on hand, cut out my templates, and taped them on the wall to get my placement.  After measuring, adjusting, and measuring again, I got to nailing.    Here's looking overhead from the loft.   Looks so much better now that something is filling that wall.   Now I can see my family's beautiful faces as I go up and down the stairs.    Sh

Blogging Made Me Do It

Image
When I started this blog, I started from scratch.  I was entering a whole new world.  Little did I know the things blogging would force on me.    Learn HTML Before I started blogging, I had no clue what HTML was.  I had basically no computer skills.  Sure, I used Word and Excel and browsed the internet, but this was so different.  I've learned a few things to get by but not enough to code my own site.  I use Blogger so a lot of the work is done for me.  I'm definitely going to push myself to learn more this year.   source Make a blog button and header I know how to make a blog button and header.  Your header tells the readers what your blog represents and tells a little about your style.  Both my button and header are simple and made using Picnik (now gone).  I've now been using Picmonkey so hopefully I'll make some new ones soon.  My hubby has been trying to push Photoshop on me.  I so want to learn but I know there will be long hours put in
