Decorating Cents

With Valentine's Day quickly approaching, I've been seeing the cutest printables.  I tend to gravitate to the ones about love in general and not specifically Valentine's day.  I wanted to share some of them.

A while back I made a sphere from embroidery hoops.   I wasn't totally in love with it and it never stayed together with the little hands around here that like to touch.  I was thumbing through the newest West Elm catalog and saw these .  They're available in gold and silver. I loved them so much more than the wooden ones.  I wanted to make one but I didn't feel like running to the craft store so I used what I had, the red embroidery hoops.  I took it apart and started new.   I put three hoops together in the same shape as the West Elm version.  I had to use tape to hold the outer hoop together.   Using paper mache, I began to add layers of paper.   Once it dried, I sprayed it with black spray paint.  After the spray paint was dry, I gave it a good coat of silver craft paint.  It gives it a metallic look.  The West Elm version has rounder edges but I still like mine.   I've been switching out all my DIY pieces on this table.  The urch

Back around Christmas time, I had a wild hair to move some things around.  My Ikea expedit has always been in the hallway nook leading to the family room. I like it here but the area underneath the mirror in the dining room was empty.  So I moved the expedit here.  I posted it on Facebook and several of you seemed to like the change. I don't completely love it but like the expedit fills in the gap. With this change, the hallway nook now becomes empty.  I would love an open console table to display baskets and other large decor items. Whenever I see a sale for dining room furniture, I quickly click over.   Target is having a pretty good sale on theirs right now.  I saw these dining chairs and immediately fell in love.  They are modern and the subtle wingback is gorgeous.  A set of 2 chairs is on sale for $132.99.  What a steal! West Elm is also having a sale and they have almost the exact same chairs, but with nail head trim, for $489.99 a pair. Polyvore is hosting another decorating contest. This time they have paired with Cassie from Hi Sugarplum .  The theme is Sass and Class. It's always fun to create these mood boards.  There will be two winners that each get $500 to spend at Anthropologie!  Count me in.

Back when we put up the board and batten in the entry, I knew I wanted something to go above it.  This wall sat empty for while.  I just wasn't sure exactly what would go there.  I debated on photos or a large mirror.  More photos of the kiddos won.  You can't have enough family photos around the house right?   I also wanted to share a picture to show you how the front foyer relates to the mirrors' new home I showed you last week.  They are just around the corner from the front door entrance.   Can't wait till we continue the board and batten throughout the rest of the entry.  Maybe I'm more excited to buy a nailgun than the actual work! Back over Thanksgiving break, I promised my daughter I would begin work on her bathroom after Christmas.  It was one of the last rooms left to be painted.  But mind you, her room was one of the first ones finished.  I was determined to make this happen for her even though I knew it would be tight because I would have both kids over the Christmas break.  My goal was to start to finish in two days.  I'm superwoman so I can do this!  Or so I think I'm superwoman sometimes. Here is the room before.  She already had the shower curtain and towels.  I chose this shower curtain because it used the sames colors from her bedroom.  Excuse the weird lighting.  There's no window and the overhead light is all there is.
