Decorating Cents

This pin has been on my project ideas board for a while.  I had bought some canvases some time ago but ended up returning them.  Not knowing when I would ever buy more canvases, I decided to create this project with some foam board I had in the closet.   I started by taping off my lines with painter's tape.  The tape I had was 1 inch but I cut the strips in half to make my lines thinner. Using blue and red craft paint, I randomly painted sections of my board.  After removing the tape, here's what it looked like.  I was surprised how easy the tape came off the foam board being that it's paper.  It was Elmer's board so maybe it made a difference but I've tried with dollar store boards before and the paper ripped.     I originally made these to go above the sofa in the living room, but changed my mind.  They were a little too bright for the space.  One of them ended up in the back hall coming in from the garage.   The hall was empty be

If your kid is anything like mine, she likes to do art all the time.  That creative brain of her likes to be messy and splash color all over my counter.  Sometimes I have trouble coming up with crafts for her to do on those days she gets bored around the house.  She has a craft storage bin of all her supplies in the pantry but she longs for those projects we can do together where she can pull out the paint and glue.  I scoured the internet looking for some fall crafts that we could do together.  Here are some that I thought would be pretty fun. I've seen a few versions of these aroun d and pinned them on my fall board .  I had some left over fabric so I decided to give it a try. I started by laying out my fabric. I traced a circle using a pizza pan.  Since I wasn't sure what size this would make my pumpkin, I decided to cut out my circle going about 2 inches outside of my traced circle.   The other tutorials I've seen used yarn but I didn't have any so I used thread.  Make sure you cut your string long enough to go through the entire length of the circle perimeter.  Leave the top open enough to add batting or if you don't have any (like me), use more fabric.   After filling, pull your string tight and tie it off with a knot. Now it's time for the stem.  I didn't have any on hand, but I had plenty of empty paper towel rolls.  The kid likes to save those for her art projects.  I cut one short enough to look like a pumpkin stem.  I rolled it up, glued it shut, and glued it

So I was browsing Target's website and came across a new collection.  If you don't already know, Nate Berkus is doing a collection available only at Target. Urban Trellis Comforter   Nepal Chevron Duvet I haven't made my weekly trip in Target yet, but looking at these items, I'll be in there sooner than later.  Have you scooped up any goodies yet?

With the painting of the master bedroom to a light greige, I wanted to change the existing bedding to something lighter and fresh.  I had my eye on a duvet set on Target.  I stalked it for a while until one day, it was marked down.  I grabbed it and hoped it was everything I thought it would be. It's a gray and cream duvet cover with a subtle medallion pattern.  I paired it with some blue sheets for more color.  I think the colors go perfect with the walls.  It also seems to open the room up more.     I like how the dark woods play against the light walls and bedding. I still need to hem the curtains since they're dragging the ground and thought about stenciling them.  I like the simple white but maybe some blue there would give some more depth to the windows.  I want to also add some patterned accent pillows.  Still lots more work to do here but looking better than where we were months ago.  

Is it me or do you find yourself aimlessly wandering around Target?  I try to stick to my list but can't help myself and end up in the home section.all.the.time.  I was out one Saturday and noticed they had just marked a ton of stuff down.  Those little red stickers get my heart racing.  On one of the end caps was this cute little end table.   source I stuck it in the cart but was still a little apprehensive about buying it.  I made a couple more trips though the aisles before finally deciding that I would get it.  If I didn't love it when I got home, I could always return it. It was coincidental that when I get home, the new West Elm catalog was in the mailbox.  After flipping through some pages, guess what I saw?  Almost the same table for a lot more money. source It almost made me feel better about my purchase.  Here's my table in the living room. Not sure if I want to keep it the red or go dark like oil rubbed bronze or a lighter chrome.  I like

I keep meaning to put out more fall stuff but for some reason I'm having trouble getting motivated.   I think some of the problem is fall colors tend to be more oranges and reds and I don't really care for them.  I did manage to pull off a little something that cost me zero dollars.  You may remember my late summer centerpiece.  I gave it a touch of fall.   I had some small rope in my craft drawers.  I simply hot glued one end to the hurricane and wrapped until I got to the other end.  Glue the other end down.  Easy peasy! I found the painted pumpkins from last year and put them out too.
