Girl's Room Reveal

Good morning fine folks!  This moment has been a long time coming.  I expected this makeover to be quick and painless but it has dragged on for months.  I know.  I know.  I knew what I wanted to do but not finding some pieces that I wanted caused me to run behind schedule.

Let's get to it shall weCaution yourself as there are lots of pictures.

I wanted her room to have a focal wall but I knew I didn't want to use paint.  I found these gold polka dot decals and my girl loved them.  I was originally going to do a pattern but my daughter liked the idea of free falling dots instead.  This actually saved me a headache of trying to measure and figure out where each dot went.  It was a win for us both.

The biggest change in the room was probably the wall color change.  It was previously green.  I really liked this color when we moved in and painted but I felt like it was limiting what I could do in the room.

The gray feels softer and actually makes the room seem larger.  It was weird after the room was painted to walk by and there be a glow coming from her room.  The room bounces the light around from the window.

Her desk is on one side of the room.  She loves to sit here and write and put together her legos.

I found the calendar and cute banner at Target.  They go perfectly on her pinboard.  I like using the little colored pails for pencils and markers.

I ended up painting the mirror above her dresser gold.  I wasn't sure how I liked it but she does, so I left it.  She wanted everything spray painted gold.  Many of her accessories were transformed by the gold like the cute little piggy bank and smile word on her dresser.

The picture on the dresser is one of my favorites of her.  I wrapped her lamp shade in new fabric to better coordinate with the rest of the room.

Across from her bed is the gallery wall.  We decided to stick with pinks, blues, white, and gold.  This print from Minted is the star of the wall.  I loved this print the moment I saw it.  It had all the colors we were going for and it had a playful effect with the watercolors.

Most of the other prints are DIY that I printed and stuck in the white frames from the previous gallery wall.  I love that we stuck to a simple color palette.  It really cut down on the busy-ness that was here before.

We bought this storage unit once the Trofast went to little man's room.  It came from Target.  We chose colored bins that matched the rest of the room.  Inside she keeps all those wonderful, tiny lego pieces that hurt when you step on them.  Ouch!

She insisted on a chair for this corner by the window.  We found this moon chair at And That!  It's a sister store to The Christmas Shops.  The color was perfect.  The pink hexagon shelves are from Target dollar spot.

Whew!  So many pics I know but I had to show you everything!

I love how this room turned out.  My daughter is super happy about it and I think the gray turned out to be a good choice.  My husband told me he wasn't painting it again so this choice better be what I want for a long time.  Thanks babe!

  1. Hi Andrea,
Congrats on the wonderful job you did - I bet your daughter loves her "new" room! The silver walls with the falling gold dots is such a nice touch.
Its such a drastic change from the old color scheme. And you're right, the new colors make the room look light and airy. The changes also reflect a growing young lady:) Super job!

  3. I personally baulk at having colours that are too loud dominate the room. Small accents on the cushions and storage baskets are just right amount of "pop" for me, thank you!
