House Tour: Family Room

We've been here a few months now and things are progressing.  I didn't want to start the tour until the rooms were done but I don't think a room will ever be completely done.

Let's start with the family room.  This is the hub of the house and where everyone will congregate.  It had to be the first room done since this is what our guests will see.

Here are some before and after pics:

The biggest change was the hardwood floors throughout the main floor.  I knew I wanted hardwoods before we started looking for a house so of course it was the first thing to change. They were installed the day after we closed.  (Yeah I work fast around here!!)  Couldn't get rid of that nasty carpet fast enough.  We painted in Behr Brown Teepee.  It will be the main color for the downstairs.

We wanted enough seating for all our friends and family when they came over so a sectional seemed right.  It's soft, comfortable, and microfiber for easy cleaning.  I need that around here with a 3 year old.  We bought the matching chair which now I'm starting to regret.  I would like to switch it out for a patterned chair but I don't see that happening anytime soon.  Eventually I'll get a couple chairs or some kind of trunk to go under the window.  There's an empty space there that's been bugging me but again it won't be a quick fix.  The ottoman works for propping feet up and it was a better alternative to a coffee table with square corners since we have a toddler.  Plus she likes lounging on the ottoman.

I like how the space has turned out so far.  More changes are on the way!
