Our New Patio

We finally have an outdoor space we can enjoy!  One of the things we looked for during our house search was a great backyard.  At the time we had one child and wanted her to have space to run around in.  What kid doesn't like to be outside?  We had one of those cheap patio sets with the glass table and four chairs from our previous home.  It didn't last long so we never really sat outside because there was nothing to sit on.

Well that time has passed.  We now have a place where we can relax outdoors as well.  I wanted this outside space to be an extension of our inside space.  So I of course used blues and greens with pops of other bright colors.  I picked up this patio furniture from Target and I got busy decorating.

It's so different now to sit outside after dinner instead of watching TV.  With the addition of school being out for the summer, we aren't as rushed to get back inside and prep for the next day.

I had already been looking at the outdoor rugs and pillows at World Market.  I knew that whenever we did get new furniture, that was the place I was going for these items.  I bought this 6x9 paisley rug and these striped pillows.  I loved the vibrant colors in both.  The rug is a woven plastic material and it feels really nice under bare feet.  Mixed in with the striped pillows are blue floral pillows from Target.

I love how all the colors from the rug and pillows play together!  It's so bright and fresh.

I picked up a metal plant stand and blue plant pot from Target, both on clearance.  I removed the hook from a flower hanging basket and sat it in the pot.

We are going to add a few more items like lighting and an umbrella to help block some of the daytime sun.  We are loving this space so far.  It's nice to have an outdoor family room.  We just gained more square footage!

  5. That is beautiful. When we built our house we built the porch extra large so we could turn it into a dog room. Since that hasn't happened, I'd love to do something like this.
