It's Time for the Master

Image
It's time we finally get our master bedroom together.  Most of the other rooms have been finished so I decided it was time to make our room our sanctuary. Last time I shared our bedroom was here and here .     We painted the walls a light greige and pretty much left it alone.  There's blank slate to work with. Here are some ideas I put together.   We have the necessary furniture like the bed and dresser.  I would love to add a gray upholstered headboard if I can find one we afford.  I missed out on one at Target last week.  It was on clearance online and I waited too long to jump on it.  As in the next day.  I checked the very next day and someone else took it.  I know.  I'm still kicking myself.  I should know better by now.  We have new bedding but I'm trying to think of an excuse to get something else.  I want to add a photo gallery around the wall mounted TV above the dresser. I want to add a d...

Upstairs Loft: Plans

Image
Right at the top of the stairs, we have a loft area.  This area has been empty since we've been here.  It's really been the catchall for things that no longer fit into any other room at the time.  Around Christmas, it looked like a toy store with all the kids' toys all spread out.  We decided it was time to do something with this space. Last week I showed you the new pillow covers I ordered from H&M.  I don't really have a set color scheme for this room.  I just want it to be fun and a place where we can lounge and watch movies.  Kind of a media space.   Here's what we're thinking. The main piece in the room will be a gray sectional.  We wanted something functional that we could all lounge on.  I really wanted gray because I knew there would be a possibility we would be eating and drinking up there, so the gray should cover any stains or mishaps.  It will go on the right wall when you first walk up the stai...

Gray It Is

Image
We've decided on gray walls for the nursery.  After going through so many samples of blues and grays, it was hard for me to find the perfect blue gray that I wanted.  I saw several examples of colors I liked but once I saw them in person, they weren't quite right.  They were either too blue,  too purple, or too green.  So I went with my second choice of gray.  I chose to go with Silver Sateen from Behr.  It's a light gray that will be the perfect backdrop for the bright colors I want to use in the room. With that said, here's how the plan has changed from previous versions .  I was able to find an orange chevron rug from Urban Outfitters that I love.  Since it was on sale, I decided to grab a few more colors just to have a few options to play around with.  Sometimes I can't resist a sale.  If they don't work for the nursery, they may end up somewhere else in the house.  After making a list of all the things I want in the room...

The Master Bathroom Is Painted

Image
Yay!  We've made a change to the master bathroom.  We painted the walls Harmonious by Behr.  It's a calming blue that goes well with the dark vanities.  We both want a spa-like experience when we come in here so we both agreed this was the best color.  I said agreed but this was after several back and forths in Home Depot.  We just couldn't agree on the same color at first.  I was going for something light and he wanted something dark.  I think we found a happy medium. I need something big to put over the tub here and a nice valance or roman shade for the window. I can't wait to choose new lights and accessories. Here's what I have in mind. Master Bathroom to do list: Paint walls Paint cabinets Frame mirrors Change light fixtures Install tile above tub Window treatment Art above tub

Plans for 2012

Image
There are several projects I want to start and finish this year. Remember the office we started?  Yeah, me too.  I'm typing from it now.  I moved my focus back downstairs.  I figured no one was coming over and asking to hang out there.  I want to paint the kitchen cabinets using the cabinet transformation kit we used in the master bathroom .  I want the darker cabinets but so afraid it won't turn out like I want it to.  I have big dreams for that kitchen. I want to finish accessorizing the formal dining room.  The stencil wall really got me excited and wanting to get this room done.  I know I just painted that chandelier but I want a more modern light fixture there. The formal living room is bare.  Enough said. I would love to make our master bedroom a sanctuary for us.  Right now its builder beige walls are cold and not inviting.  I'm thinking a warm paint color and lots of neutrals and blues. ...
