The Chair

Image
I've shown several photos of the in-progress master bedroom makeover. One question I keep getting is where did I get the chair in the office area.  Well my friends, the answer is Overstock.   I originally was going for gray chaises lounge chairs in this space but realized I couldn't afford it and we didn't really need two chairs.  I loved this chair when I first saw it.  It has straight contemporary lines with a mid-century flair.   It is more neutral than I was going for but I can easily change the look with a throw pillow.  It also keeps this corner nice and bright. Look at those lines.  The legs are stunners. The chair is very comfortable and even the kids love to jump in it while I'm working on the computer.  The fabric is linen, which I was expecting to be more flimsy, but so far it's held up great.  It seems very durable.  The low armrests don't seem practical but actually don't bother me.  When I look...

New Dining Chairs

Image
Hip hop hooray!  We got ourselves some new dining chairs and I absolutely love them!  I wasn't going for beige in the beginning but I'm glad that's what we ended up with.  They are the Threshold Brookline Tufted Dining Chair .   They totally change the look of our dining room. Look at the cushioned seat.  They are firm but not too firm and should soften with some use.  Very comfortable to sit in I might add. I love the button tufted back.  So elegant looking. There's a story behind how we got here so let's start from the beginning.  I showed you these chairs as one of my choices but I was aiming for the light gray.  I was set on that specific color.  The only problem is they are never in stock and on sale at the same time.  They are either on sale one week but the color is not available or they are available but full price.  I had a set price I was willing to pay for new chairs.  I needed six and I was...

Dining Chair Options

Image
Yesterday I posted on Facebook that I sold our dining room chairs.  I was never really a fan of them but they came with the table so I lived with them. That is, until I was seeing other styles that I liked.  Sure, we don't use the table often but I at least want the dining room to look good and be a reflection on our current style.  It has changed over the past few years.  If you look at pictures from the last three years of living here, our house doesn't look the same. Here are the previous chairs... They had a curved, slatted back that wasn't really that comfortable.  If we were to have guests over for a fancy dinner party (yeah right), I at least want them to eat in comfort.  You want them to relax and be able to linger after dinner's over.  The seats were a tan microfiber which is great for messes but I need something different. With the new chairs, I think I want something tufted.  Oh yes, the drama!  The tufts just look ...

Nursery Chairs

Image
In the original plan for the nursery, I have the Poang from Ikea.  We bought it before as a family room option but I didn't care for it because it looked too much like a nursery chair.  I like the clean lines of the chair but not sure how comfy it's gonna be sitting for long periods of time.  Also, the arms aren't padded.  I wanted to check around for more options before I settled on the Poang.  source I like the look of the cradle rockers but I don't think hubby is feeling the retro vibe of it.   To me, they're cute and simple. source We had a version of this in my daughter's nursery.  It was a gift so we just went with it.  It doesn't exactly have the modern lines we are going for this time, so I'll try to stay clear. source This glider is definitely a nice one.  It looks so comfy.  It's very modern and made of microsuede so it would be good for spills.  At $349 it's a little out of my budget. ...

Come In, Have A Seat

Image
When I showed you the updated family room , I told you that I had used a chair from the living room as a temporary place marker.   I've searched for months and have gone through four other purchases and returns of chairs.  A real game of musical chairs.  Three were from Target and one was the Poang from Ikea.  That was definitely not the right chair.  It was more of a nursery chair.  The others worked because of the wrong color or just the shape of the chair.  From the beginning, I knew what chair I really wanted but was trying to find cheaper options to satisfy my pocket.  I explained the dilemma to hubby and we decided if there was a chair I really wanted, I just needed to suck it up and pay for it.  Yay!  He saw my side.   The weekend we decided to make it ours, it was on sale.  I guess this chair was meant to be.  Nothing like getting what you want for the price you want to pay.  It's the same soft suede mic...

A Couple Of New Chairs

Image
Say hello to some new members of our house.  I had been eying these chairs on Target's website for a while.    I originally ordered these but once they were assembled and in the room, it was too much blue and not enough contrast.  I returned them and ordered the white ones instead. I almost didn't get the new chairs because they were always out of stock.  For a couple weeks after Christmas, I was stalking checking everyday to see if they were in stock yet.  I love the mix of colors on them.  They blend perfectly with the rest of the house and will allow me to add more color into the living room.  I used the fretwork pillows from the family room to pull out the blue.   We're thinking of adding a small sofa or love seat to add more weight to this space.  I wanted to go with just the chairs, but they are too small by themselves.   What do you think about a red or blue sofa?  Did you noti...
