DIY Acrylic Tray

Image
Hump day!  We're half way there. So glad my daughter's room is finally finished.  I love the gray walls with pops of color throughout.  Her desk is one of the areas she uses the most.  She likes to sit there and do legos or draw.  She tends to collect a lot of paper so I wanted a tray to corral all of it.  I made a simple acrylic tray in my office so it was a no-brainer to make one for her too. I bought a plastic frame from Michael's and some pretty scrapbook paper. Cut the paper to size to fit into the frame. Boom!   Done !   So simple but so cute! Here it is on the corner of her desk.  I love how it's not bulky and since it's clear, you can still see the desk.  It doesn't always stay as clean as I'd like it, but it w orks. What's the easiest project you've tackled lately? In case you missed it, the room reveal is here .   You're reading DIY Acrylic Tray b y Andrea, originally posted on...

Girl's Room Reveal

Image
Good morning fine folks!  This moment has been a long time coming.  I expected this makeover to be quick and painless b ut it has dragged on for months .  I know .  I know.  I knew what I wanted to do but not finding some pieces that I wanted caused me to run behind schedule. Let's get to it shall we ?  C aution yourself a s there are lots of pictures. I wante d her room to have a focal wall but I knew I didn't want to use paint.  I found these gold polka dot decals and my girl loved them.  I was originally going to do a pattern but my daughter liked the idea of free falling dots instead.   This actually saved me a headache of trying to measure and figure out where each dot w ent.  It was a win for us both .   The biggest change in the room was probably the wall color change.  It was previously green.  I really liked this color when we moved in and painted but I felt like it was limiting what I could do in th...

A Girly Gallery Wall

Image
I feel like I'm in the home stretch with my daughter's room makeover.  There are always a few small things I want to get done before I reveal them.  Ever since the room was painted gray, she's been loving it so I can take my time for all she cares.  Painting over the green made the room feel so much more calm and larger. I knew from the start I wanted to do another gallery wall in her room.  I got rid of the old prints because she was over the whole butterfly thing and wanted to tone down the colors to just a few.  We've decided to stick with pinks, blues, white, and gold.  This print from Minted is the star of the wall.  I loved this print the moment I saw it.  It had all the colors we were going for and it had a playful effect with the watercolors. I bought a few pieces from Hobby Lobby for those touches of gold.  They have awesome sales.  I bought the So in love with you canvas from Marshalls.  The rest of the pr...

Changes Upstairs

Since we have been here a little over five years, I wanted to go back and look at the makeovers that have been done so far.  If you missed the downstairs, go here .    My daughter's room was one of the first to be fini shed.  Here's the before.  Definitely not appealing for a spunky girl like mine. I filled her wall up with DIY art , put up a temporary light , made some DIY curtains a nd pillows , bought a desk , a nd made a sunburst mirro r for over her dresser. As you know, I am currently in the process of changing her room again.  We painted it gray to give it a new look.  Things are looking good so far. Her bathroom received a makeo ver.  I used the green from her b edroom as the accent col or.   Ne xt up is my son's room.  It st ayed empty for a while when we moved in.  It was going to become a guest room but we found out we would soon be getting a new family m em ber.  I absolutely loved h...
