Valentine's Day with Oriental Trading

Image
Can you believe it's February already?  The year is already flying by.  February means the month of love.  It's the time when we share our love for the people in our lives by showering them with candy and stuffed animals.  It is also the time for those class Valentine parties.  When your kids want those expensive valentine cards and candy that you wait last minute to get.  Or is that only me ? Well not this year!  I am doing everything early.  Oriental Trading is here to the rescu e.  They have a ton of Valentine's Day options .  I cou ldn't wait to check out the valentine cards for the class card exchange .  My daughter can be rather picky.  I went with a card and pen cil combo .  I like to hand out things other than candy si nce we tend to collect so much of it throughout the year.  I think the other parents would appreciate my gesture .       I also thou ght it would be fun to have a sm...

Pencil Valentines

Image
Over the weekend, my daughter and I put together class valentine cards for the their card exchange on Friday.  I don't like using the store bought ones, even though it's easier.  I like things to be a little more personal and she enjoys the process.  I also like handing out something besides candy.  I know plenty will be coming home from other kids. I picked up some Valentine pencils from the Target dollar spot.  I made a couple cards in Picmonkey and printed them out on cardstock.  I did two versions with different sayings that pertained to writing since we were using pencils.  We punched holes and inserted the pencils.  The pencil packs were assorted and it was interesting to hear how she picked out the pencil for each kid.  There will be one boy that gets a pink pencil.  Sorry, but it is Valentine's Day and I'm sure that won't be the only pink item in his bag. Super simple and she can say she made them herself!

Free Valentine's Day Printables

With Valentine's Day quickly approaching, I've been seeing the cutest printables.  I tend to gravitate to the ones about love in general and not specifically Valentine's day.  I wanted to share some of them.

Glow Stick Valentines

So I told you Monday we had not done the class valentine cards yet.  Well I can check them off my list now.  As always, I was checking the Target dollar spot and came across these glow sticks.  There were 15 sticks in each pack.  Sweet deal!  I grabbed two.  I love the idea of the kid making her own cards instead of store bought.  They're just a little more personal.  Plus, she gets to use her crafting skills.  I was also trying to get away from giving candy.  We always end up with so much of it so I was thinking maybe the other parents would appreciate the gester.   I made these cards in Picmonkey and printed them on card stock.   We punched holes and inserted the glow sticks.   Super simple and easy on the pocket.  Nothing like saying you made it yourself.

Easy Valentine Heart Garland

I don't do the decorate for Valentine's Day thing, but wanted to do something to keep the kid occupied for a minute.  She keeps mentioning the class Valentine's party this week, which I haven't bought cards or snacks for yet.  I figured a Valentine craft would be perfect to get her geared up for the upcoming week.    A few weeks ago, we bought a pack of valentine scrapbook paper in Target's dollar section.  One dollar for ten sheets ain't bad if you ask me.     Since I wanted all my hearts the same size, I cut out a heart from a folder I had laying around.  Using it as a template, I folded and cut out all my hearts. I used a hole punch to put holes in the corners, strung them on a ribbon, and hung it on her door.  I like how the pink goes with her decor so who knows how long it will stay there.   We've got eight sheets left to make something else.  Perhaps Valentine cards for the class.  I be...

I won't be doing any decorating for Valentine's Day but I will put out this one printable I made. This scripture was printed on our wedding program and means a lot to the both of us.  It describes the definition of true love.  The scripture is 1 Corinthians 13:4-13.    Sharing at  Tatertots and Jello * Under the Table and Dreaming * Homemaker on a Dime * Making The World Cuter * The DIY Showoff * Positively Splendid * Home Savvy A to Z * Tough Cookie Mommy * The Gunny Sack * So Very Creative * DIY Home Sweet Home * Three Mango Seeds * Ask Anna * I Heart Naptime * CRAFT * Keeping It Simple * Between Naps on the Porch * Craftomaniac * Skip To My Lou * Nifty Thrifty Things * Confessions of a Stay at Home Mommy * Tip Junkie * Ginger Snap Crafts * Savvy Southern Style * DIY by Design * Clean and Scentsible * Decorchick * Feeding My Temple * It's Overflowing * Blue Cricket Design * Southern Lovely * Someday Crafts * The...
