Girl's Room Makeover Plans
Happy Monday! It was sunny and 70 here this weekend so we enjoyed it. We had family in town so we soaked up as much time with them as possible.
So guess who wants a room makeover now? My daughter, of course. It all started with a new bed. We liked the one she had but with little brother getting a new bed, she wanted a new one too. I took the new bed a a whole room makeover so it's not completely her doing. Her current room is green which I loved at the beginning. It was the first room complete when we moved so I was still unsure of some of my direction for the entire house. The green was fun while it lasted but it's time for a change. We are going gray!
The whole room color scheme will be gray, pink, turquoise blue, and gold. I never thought I would be throwing gold in but it's grown on me. I think the gold will add some glam to balance out the other fun colors in the room. Here's the plan.
First, we'll start with gray walls. I'll probably stick with Behr Silver Sateen like my son's room. It's a great color and isn't too light but gives some warmth to the room. I showed my daughter a room with gold polka dot walls and she was sold. We'll use wall decals to achieve the look for the wall behind the bed.
For the bed, she's chosen a gray upholstered headboard and new bedding. I originally wanted white bedding but she insisted on color. We'll add colorful pillows for pops of color.
For her desk area, she's asked for somewhere to display notes and artwork. I really like this pinboard from PB teen but I think making my own will feel better on the wallet. She mentioned a wire hanging system like this one from Ikea but I think the pinboard will be better suited for her.
Since her brother got her old Trofast shelf she got a new organizer shelf from Target. The colorful bins that go along with it will store legos, Shopkins, and beading supplies. Oh how I love all those little beads that get lost from the rest of the bunch! Above the shelf will be a gallery wall. There currently is one but many of the prints will be changed out and I'll add some more gold accents. A lot of the room colors are based around this print from Minted.
She's super excited to get going. We've already purchased many of the items so this should be an easy makeover. The biggest thing is painting and we aren't looking forward to it. Her room is large and I'm thinking it may take a few coats to cover the green paint.

I too have polka dots on the brain for my daughters room.
ReplyDeleteLOVE these colors. The room will be so adorable! The pops of gold will be super fun and you can't go wrong with polka-dots! I am also redoing my daughter's room, but turning it into a guest room now that she's off on her own. LOVE decorating on a budget and finding new ways to re-do/re-purpose things!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Where did you get the white hanging lamp from? Thanks
